As an artist born and raised in the vibrant cultural landscape of New Mexico, I draw inspiration from a rich tapestry of European and American influences.

My work is a reflection of the diverse heritage and history of the region, encompassing Native American and Hispanic themes, as well as paying homage to prominent artists and historical figures who have shaped our collective identity. Through a fusion of digital media, mixed media, and acrylic techniques, my artistic endeavor revolves around crafting visually engaging artworks that embody the vibrant essence of the Southwest.

Native Americans

Quanah Parker (1845 - 1911) - Native American

Comanche Chief Quanah Parker was the son of Chief Peta Nocona and captured white settler Cynthia Ann Parker who had assimilated into the tribe. He was a fierce warrior and leader of the Comanche during their last days as an independent power before surrendering at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Blue Horse (1822 - 1908) - Native American

Chief of the Wagluhe band of Oglala Lakota. He was known as one of the first US Army Indian Scouts and signatory of the Treaty of Fort Laramie which guaranteed the Lakota ownership of the Black Hills and hunting rights in South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana.

Pretty Nose - Native American (c 1851)

Pretty Nose was an Arapaho or Cheyenne woman who participated in the Battle of Little Big Horn. She lived to be at least 101 years old.

A key war leader during the Apache Wars, known for his fierce resistance to both Mexican and American encroachment into native land.

Chief James Garfield Velarde (ca 1889) - Native American

This leader of the Jicarilla Apache who is shown wearing the peace medal that he had received from President Garfield. He later adopted the name Chief James Garfield Velarde.

Portrait of Chief Joseph (1840 - 1904) - Native American

Leader of the Walowa band of Nez Perce tribe in the Pacific Northwest. Known as a skilled military leader as well as a humanitarian and peacemaker. Under his leadership the Nez Perce earned widespread admiration from their opponents and the American public.

Oglala Sioux. Was known to have fought at the Battle of Little Big Horn under Crazy Horse.

Geronimo (1829 - 1909) - Native American

Prominent leader and medicine man of the Chiricahua Apache people. Geronimo became famous for his bravery in the fight against both Mexican and American troops. His band was one of the last major forces of Native American warriors who refused to capitulate to United States occupation of the American West

Revolutionaries and Historical Figures

General Francisco “Poncho” Villa (1878 - 1923) - Mexican SoldierMexican revolutionary leader who helped lead the campaign that led to the creation of a new government in Mexico. He is a folk hero and champion of the lower classes.

Benjamín Argumedo Hernández (1874-1916) - Mexican Soldier

Benjamin Argumedo was a Brigadier General in the Mexican Revolution. Shifting his loyalties several times, he is considered the most tenacious adversary of Francisco “Pancho” Villa in the bloody battles that were carried out for the lands of Durango and Coahuila.

La Adelita - (1905 - 1914) Mexican Revolutionary Soldier

Adelitas were female “soldaderas” who bravely fought and traveled side by side with soldiers during the Mexican Revolution. Often of mestiza or indigenous origin, these women were of all ages and were from all over the country. The song “La Adelita” is one of the most famous corridos of the Mexican Revolution. David Sisquieros (1896 - 1974) - Mexican Painter

Social realist painter best known for his large murals. Many of his murals feature “hands” signifying “strength through work.

Jose Clemente Orozco (1883 - 1949) - Mexican Artist

Mexican muralist known for being dedicated to the political causes of peasants and workers. Fond of the theme of human suffering, he raised Mexican art to a position of international eminence.

Carmen Amaya (1913 - 1963) - Spanish

Carmen Amaya gained international acclaim and success due to her mastery of footwork that had previously been has been reserved for the best male dancers. She has been called the “greatest flamenco dancer ever”.

Samuel “Lightnin” Hopkins (1912 - 1982) - American Musician

American singer, songwriter and blues guitarist. He was ranked #71 on the Rolling Stone list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.

Man Ray (1890 - 1976) - American Artist

A contributor to the Dada and Surrealist movements, Man Ray was best known for his photography.

Frida Khalo (1907 - 1954) - Mexican Painter

Magical realist Mexican painter know for her many self-portraits. She began to paint while recovering from a near fatal bus accident at the age of 18. Her work exalted Mexico’s indigenous culture and also portrayed her own struggle with physical and emotional pain.
